Julia Hamilton: Time Flies

Artist Statement

Recent events have reminded me of how important it is to live my life to its fullest. The pandemic seemed to make all of us hyperaware of our mortality. We never really know how much time we will have with our loved ones. The pandemic drew my husband, Bill, and I much closer, which was nice. When he survived the pandemic only to be taken abruptly by cancer in 2023, I was forced to start a new chapter in my life. Before starting this new chapter, I took a leisurely look back on the 28 wonderful years I had with Bill in my life. I like to express my experience with the world through my artwork. The works in this exhibit address subjects that have been on my mind recently. Recent works speak to my current experiences while older works relate to time, the pandemic, my life with Bill, or the cosmos. The cosmos is important to me because Bill and I shared the belief that we came from the universe, and we return to the universe when our time here is up. He is saving me a spot near Orion.
